1 in 200 kids are now vegetarian, study finds!
That was the headline I read in our newspaper some time ago. I found this most pleasing since most kids I know eat mostly junk food, but cutting red meat, was just part of this story. Thanks in part from YouTube, watching animals slaughter videos, young people are becoming vegetarians and some vegan.
Well, whatever the reason, there seems to be a growing concern that these kids may be nutrient deficient, caused by the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle. The Vegan diet excludes not only meats, but also eggs and dairy products, and includes fruits, greens, nuts, and seeds as their main source of fuel. There are six types of vegetarian, and vegan is one of them— but don’t be alarmed! Our young people are getting all the nutrients they need as long as they are including greens and fruits to their diet. A plant-based diet is balanced; 80% carbohydrates, 10% protein, and 10% fat in its whole form, meaning not cooked!
Now, on the other hand, if our young people are replacing meats and dairy products for junk foods, my concerns would be ten-fold. Eating less living foods (fruits and greens) and more junk food are the many reasons for the illnesses that plague our society, of our young and old alike. Our body needs to eat living foods just as our Creator intended it to be. Your body is only able to heal itself by eating the proper foods.
It’s wonderful to eliminate red meat along with dairy and eggs, but let’s not forget to eliminate the more obvious: soda, chips, french fries, and breads, just to start. This doesn’t have to be difficult, but be mindful and take it one step at a time.
You are what you eat after all; this is not new information, people. It’s time for all of us to take this seriously. Eat cooked food, and live a very unhealthy life (or die much sooner). Eat more living foods, (fruits and greens) and you will live longer and enjoy a much better life.
You do not have to be eating 100% living food; just 50% would make an improvement on your health. The important thing to remember is to cut out all the junk food from your diet. What fits your lifestyle will work best for you.
